Restoration Comedy – Review

In the most abstract view, Restoration Comedy is a parody of theatre from the 17th and 18th centuries.  What’s it about?  Mistaken identities?  Yes.  Love Triangles?  Yes.  Virtuous ladies fending off the advances of lusty gentlemen?  That too.  Are there clever servants with foolish masters?  Of course there are.  But spoofing the clichés of the 1690′s is only one small part of The Flea Theater’s production of Amy Freed’s new play.  Restoration Comedy is more of an event than a mere performance.
