Live-action role play, or “LARP” is often considered to be the nerdiest form of gaming. LARPers play games using rules and characters similar to tabletop games, but LARPers “get up from the table” and play without dice or pencils, often donning costumes and wielding foam rubber weapons. But one does not need to be a gamer to run around in a costume fighting with pretend swords. Actors do this on stages, street corners, and public parks every day.
